DIY Help at Home
Our DIY service is available for people of State Pension age who need a little help with small household tasks. Our friendly volunteers can assist with jobs such as assembling flat-pack furniture, putting up curtain rails, or fixing shelves and other minor repairs around the home.
We make a charge of £20 for each visit to help cover the costs of running this scheme.
Important Information
- ♦ Our volunteers are covered by our organisation’s personal accident insurance for light, low-key maintenance work.
- ♦ They can’t do electrical or plumbing jobs, and they don’t use heat-producing tools such as blow torches.
- ♦ Volunteers can use your tools or bring their own, and they’ll always check that everything is safe before use.
- ♦ They can only use a stepladder that takes their head height to no more than three metres (around ten feet).
- ♦ For safety reasons, they’re not able to take on any tasks that require protective clothing or specialist safety equipment.
If you’re ever unsure whether a job is suitable, just get in touch – we’ll be happy to advise.
